BIEBER ADELLE 297Y

HUST CHIEF SEQUOYA R336 X BJR MAKE MY DAY 981

We bought 297Y in the Bieber Fall 2017 Production Sale. We had wanted to get into the Adelle cow family for a while, with 297Y being a maternal sister to Bieber Adelle 8958, who is the dam of Makin Hay, Rough Rider, and Outrider. 297Y had already made a big impact in the Bieber donor pen herself, with a remarkable set of sons and grandsons that have been high sellers in Bieber production sales, including a son who was the $40,000 second high seller in 2020, a son who was the $30,000 high seller in the 2016 fall sale, grandson Bieber CL Stock Market E119 who was the $25,000 second high seller in 2018 and is now at Select Sires, and grandson Bieber CL Energize F121, who was the $30,000 high seller in 2019 to ABS Global. 297Y has a nice, balanced set of EPDs, and her pedigree offers a lot of mating flexibility, being unrelated to the Samurai, Hard Drive, Rollin Deep, and Fusion lines that we have used very hard. We really appreciate her attractive phenotype, with lots of depth and thickness. We are very excited to add 297Y to our herd, and expect her to have a very large impact on our herd moving forward.  She has been flushed to Brown Oracle B112, Bieber Brave E573, WFL Profitmaker E7030, Bieber ROU Trojan G14, Bieber Spartacus A193, Bieber Flashdrive G266, and Bieber CL Stockmarket E119.

GHR LENA U47

LCC NEW CHAPTER A705L X BASIN HOBO 79E

Pictured as 2 year old nursing her daughter X10

Lena U47 is a medium framed, hard working New Chapter daughter whose calves have consistently been some of our best. She boasts an impressive MPPA of 109, which has contributed to her breed leading milk EPD.She also has extremely high Stayability and Herdbuilder numbers. Her impressive progeny include a Spartacus son who brought $30,000 in the 2020 Bieber Production Sale, a Mighty Packer son who sold for $10,000 in the 2013 Bieber Production Sale, and a Take 2 son who was the leadoff bull in the 2015 Bieber Sale where he brought $25,000. The Lena family has become one of the most productive cow families in our herd, and they all trace back to U47. She has been flushed to Bieber Hard Drive Y120, Bieber Spartacus A193, and Bieber CL Stockmarket E119.

ROUSE LENA A02

VGW OLY 903 X BIEBER ROUGH RIDER 10712

A02 is another heavy milking, hard working cow from the Lena cow family. She is a granddaughter of the Lena U47 donor above. She combines two very attractive phenotype bulls in Oly and Rough Rider, which has resulted in her very nice look. She has a great disposition and udder, with very small teat size. She is a very light birth weight and moderate framed cow, but still has good growth as well as excellent marbling and stayability. We feel she does everything well, and she has been a cornerstone of our ET program. She has been flushed to Bieber Driven C540, Bieber Rollin Deep Y118, Bieber Hard Drive Y120, and Bieber Jumpstart J137.

ROUSE LENA B57

BECKTON EPIC R397 K   X   BIEBER ROUGH RIDER 10712

B57 is another highly productive cow from our Lena family, and is a maternal sister to our A02 donor above.  We kept her first son, Bieber ROU Stormy D49, back as a clean up bull, and he has done a very nice job for us.  Unfortunately we don’t have any daughters in the herd so far, because we selected the only heifer calf she has had to sell in the Iowa Beef Expo Red Angus Classic sale as she was one of our very best heifers that year.  We have been very pleased with our Epic daughters, and B57 is no exception.  She has been flushed to Bieber CL Energize F121.

GHR MARITA R31

Pictured at 11 years old

BIEBER BOONE 8000 X BASIN HOBO 79E

R31 is a medium framed, stout made cow that, much like her sire, has proven to be a curve bender from birth weight through yearling weight. She is a cow who has consistently done everything we have asked of her in every stage of production. Her 2010 bull calf, Bieber Rouse Samurai X22 pictured above, was purchased by Select Sires for $10,000 in the 2011 Bieber Production Sale. We have used him AI in our herd with much success. R31 has had a tremendous impact on our herd, with 70% of our calves born in 2018 descending from her, either through her daughters or through the Samurai/Spartacus sire line. She kept producing through age 14, but age finally caught up with her and we finally had to send her to town.  She has left a huge lasting impact on our herd, and many others.  She has been flushed to Beckton Epic R397 K, LCC Cheyenne B221L, Bieber Hard Drive Y120, and Bieber Deep End B597.

ROUSE MARITA E40

BIEBER DEEP END B597 X BECKTON EPIC R397 K

E40 is a granddaughter of R31 above and sired by Deep End. Her dam B97 is also profiled further down the page. She is a dark red, large framed cow with growth at the top of the breed while keeping birth weight moderate. She has done a great job raising calves, including her first calf, G12 who was easily the most impressive heifer we had that year. E40 has also done a great job getting bred in the first cycle every year just like her mother.  She has been flushed to Bieber Blue Chip H302.

ROUSE ALLICIA D42

BIEBER SPARTACUS A193.  X   ISU IMAGING Q 9111

D42 is a black, red carrier Spartacus daughter who is a real growth and carcass leader.  Her dam was a registered Angus cow purchased from the Iowa State University Beef Teaching Herd, who was sired by ISU Imaging Q 9111, the same high marbling sire of the T75 donor cow a little lower on this page.  Her dam has provided us with tremendous growth and carcass genetics with an outcross pedigree, with the only drawback being that she was homozygous black.  D42 has helped us to bring those genetics into a red package.  Her 2020 bull calf sired by Atomic was purchased by Ludvigson Stock Farms for $15,500 in the 2021 Bieber Production Sale. She was flushed to BB Propulsion 9096 with heifer sexed semen.

ROUSE ALLICIA 1J

BIEBER CL STOCKMARKET E119   X  BIEBER ROU STORMY D49

1J is another black, red carrier cow from the Allicia family, which all trace back to the high marbling Angus cow purchased from the Iowa State University Beef Teaching Herd.  1J is not only the highest marbling cow in our herd, but she is one of the highest in the entire Red Angus breed.  She posted over a 9% IMF ultrasound measurement, and her DNA enhanced Marbling EPD is the third highest of all females in the Red Angus database.  She has so much more to offer than just marbling, though, with excellent calving ease, growth, stayability, and even REA.  Phenotypically, she is moderate framed, has been an easy keeper, has good feet and an excellent udder, and a great disposition.  I just wish she had come out red.  Even as a black cow, she has put herself on the fast track to being a donor, and we hope to get a number of great red daughters from her to make the Allicia cow family a bigger part of our red herd.  She was flushed to BB Propulsion 9096 with heifer sexed semen.

BROWN REVELATION X7597

BROWN REVELATION P7021 X BROWN MS ABIGRACE L7730

X7597 was our pick of the historic 2013 RA Brown Ranch dispersal. She is a direct daughter of the famous Abigrace L7730, one of the top cows in the history of the Red Angus breed, and who has sold over $1 Million worth of progeny. X7597 combines high end growth genetics with elite marbling and REA. While at Brown’s, her first two calves posted an astounding 120 average weaning weight ratio. When we saw that, she had our attention. Not only did she wean off such heavy calves, but was also one of the first cows to breed back. Her 2013 born Redemption son she raised at Brown’s (Brown Real Deal A7701 1607276) sold in their October bull sale for $30,000, going to Leachman Cattle of Colorado. X7597 has tremendous spring of rib and capacity, as well as heavy muscling.  She has a very impressive 108 MPPA.  She has been flushed to Bieber Rouse Samurai X22, Bieber Hard Drive Y120, Bieber Spartacus A193, and Bieber In The Black D315.

GHR CHINOOK W30

LJC MISSION STATEMENT P27 X BASIN HOBO 79E

Chinook W30 was a Mission Statement daughter out of one of the top cows we purchased in the Basin Red Angus dispersal. She was one of Dan’s favorites since she was a calf, and she continued to impress with the calves she has raised. Her first heifer calf, Y17, was selected by Garrett Longnecker as his pick of our calf crop that year. Her 2016 Spartacus son, D13, was the $25,000 high selling bull in the 2017 Bieber March Production Sale, selling to Crump Red Angus in Wyoming. W30 is a heavy milking cow who posts an impressive 110 MPPA, and excels in both Herdbuilder and Gridmaster indices. She has been flushed to Bieber Rouse Samurai X22, Beckton Epic R397 K, and Bieber Spartacus A193.

GHR RAINDANCE T75

ISU IMAGING Q 9111 X GLACIER CHATEAU 744

T75 is a black, red-carrier, outcross cow that is a product of our embryo program. Her sire, ISU Imaging Q 9111, is an Angus sire that was produced by Iowa State University in the high marbling breeding program at their Rhodes farm. Gene helped oversee this breeding project while he was on the Iowa State faculty, and wanted to bring in some of these top black genetics to our Red Angus herd. T75 has done a great job of that. She has consistently produced heavy weaning weight calves, earning an impressive 108 MPPA. She was a feminine, attractive, high milking cow with great feet and udder and was a consistent producer until she was 13 years old. She has been flushed to Beckton Epic R397 K, and LCOC High Noon A093R.

Future Donor Cows and Other Noteworthy Dams

The following cows are some of our top producers and favorites in our herd. They are some that we are considering to flush in the future as well as some good cows that we happened to get good pictures of.

ROUSE MARITA B97

BECKTON EPIC R397 K  X  BIEBER BOONE 8000

B97 has risen to the surface as one of our top cows. She is one of our favorites from a terrific set of flushmate sisters, out of Epic and our R31 donor, which makes her a maternal sister to Samurai.  B97 is a deep bodied cow with an awesome disposition and impeccable feet.  She has a great spread from low birth to high growth, with her calves’ average birth ratio of 97, average wean ratio of 102, and average yearling ratio of 104.  She has shown great fertility as well, settling AI in the first cycle in all of her first 7 years.  Unfortunately that streak came to an end in 2022, but she still settled on the second cycle, and in 2023 she started a new streak.  We skipped over B97 and flushed her daughter E40 (profiled above), but I wouldn’t be shocked if we still flushed B97 at some point before her career is over.

ROUSE MARITA H43

WFL PROFITMAKER E7030.  X  BIEBER DEEP END B597

H43 is another young cow who really hit a home run with her first calf, a Stockmarket daughter who is probably our best heifer in the 2022 class.  H43 is a Profitmaker daughter who combines top end calving ease with elite growth genetics.  Unlike many of our top producers, she also has that nice dark red color that many buyers prefer.  Her dam E40 has been flushed and her grand-dam B97 is also profiled above, talk about a great cow family!

ROUSE MARITA E28

BIEBER DEEP END B597   X.  BECKTON EPIC R397 K

E28 is a Deep End daughter and her mother is a flushmate sister to B97 above.  E28 is a larger framed cow with a ton of length and breed leading growth.  She was probably our favorite heifer in the 2017 class, and has not disappointed as a cow in production, posting a curve bending 91 average birth ratio and 105 average weaning ratio on her first five calves.

ROUSE LENA H34

BIEBER CL STOCKMARKET E119    X    LCC NEW CHAPTER A705L

H34 is a young cow that we have had high expectations for since she was a calf.  She has an awesome pedigree, combining Stockmarket with our Lena U47 donor matriarch.  The combination of those two parents has given her a terrific set of EPDs across the board.  She is off to a strong start in her production career, with her first bull calf being a stout made Energize son who sold to Kirk Nelson from Cherokee, IA.

ROUSE VEEP H16

BIEBER CL ATOMIC C218    X   BIEBER GLADIATOR C386

H16 is another young cow that we are really excited about.   She was probably Dan’s favorite heifer from the 2020 crop, despite that year being full of great Stockmarket daughters.  She has not disappointed now that she has come into production either, with a great udder, easy fleshing ability, and raising two bull calves with an average weaning ratio of 109.  Her grand dam was purchased from Sonstegard Cattle Company in Minnesota, as Gene was trying to get some females from their great female making herd sire VGW Navigator 010, and we would say that plan has worked out very well.

ROUSE MARITA D82

ROUSE EXTRAORDINARY Z10    X    BECKTON EPIC R397 K

D82 is another cow from our Marita cow family who has done a great job for us.  This cow family all trace back to R31 (profiled above) who was Samurai’s dam, and they make up a significant portion of our herd.  D82 has raised high growth calves for us, posting an average weaning ratio of 114 and an average yearling ratio of 113.  Her 2022 heifer calf by Energize is a real standout and could easily find herself on this list in the not too distant future.

ROUSE LADY 72H

BIEBER CL STOCKMARKET E119    X    BECKTON EPIC R397 K

72H comes from the Lady cow family, which all trace back to a cow who was our pick of the Basin bred heifers during the Basin/Bieber acquisition.  That cow left us with a line of really nice females, including this easy fleshing Stockmarket daughter with a puppy-dog disposition.  She boasts a set of EPDs about as good as you will find anywhere, and her first two calves have been very impressive, posting an average birth ratio of 90 and an average weaning ratio of 108.

ROUSE LASS 21J

BIEBER CL ATOMIC C218    X    BIEBER SPARTACUS A193

21J is a young cow that we really like.  We have had a lot of success with the Atomic on Spartacus pedigree.  In addition, her grand dam 7409 is also the great grand dam of Bieber Flashdrive G266 who we used as an AI sire for two years.  She raised a terrific Stockmarket daughter her first time out who posted a 98 birth ratio and a 114 weaning ratio.  She held her flesh well, has a beautiful udder, and we are really excited for her Paycheck calf coming next year!
