We are offering another set of bred females for sale by private treaty again this year. This year’s offering is composed of 16 bred cows and 3 bred heifers. As usual, we had to find some females to sell in order to keep our herd size stable and make room for the new crop of bred heifers that we are keeping. The majority of these cows are ones that got bred later than we would like for our preferred breeding season, but due to a successful AI season, we were able to include a few earlier, AI bred cows as well. There are also a few cows that we had been using as recipients for our embryo transfer program who didn’t settle with an embryo pregnancy this year and find themselves on this list (B31 and F58).Those cows we feel can make productive commercial cows, but didn’t make our criteria to be seedstock quality. To learn more about the service sires they are bred to, check out our Herd Sires page, and feel free to reach out to Dan to learn more about any of the females offered.

The Red Angus Association of America recently revamped their selection indexes, changing the formulas for how they are calculated, as well as adding a new third index, called the Profitability and Sustainability Index (abbreviated ProS).The new ProS index is a multi-purpose index, combining the traits that influence the Herdbuilder (maternal) index and the Gridmaster (terminal) index. If you have questions about these indexes and how to use them in your selection decisions, feel free to reach out to us.Also, to get a feel for where these animals’ indexes and EPDs rank within the Red Angus breed, click on the following link to go to the Red Angus Association’s EPD percentiles chart.

Also, with the new BOLT EPDs, the EPDs will be calculated and published every week instead of twice per year, meaning that the animals’ current EPDs might vary slightly from the EPDs listed here. These EPDs are current as of January 5, 2022. For the most up to date EPDs, click the following link to the Red Angus Association’s database and search with the animal’s registration number (Reg #):
